Background Information:
Kevin and siblings were removed from their home in order to prevent further abuse to them. Eduviges the oldest reported sexual and physical abuse by her father, who had been forcing her to perform in a “wifely” role. The mother of the children was treated like a slave within the home (strongly controlled by the father) and got upset when Eduviges reported the incidents to the authorities, fearing where else they might be able to go and how else they might be able to receive food enough to feed the entire family. It was a dangerous situation for all! Even the youngest came to the Home of Refuge so sick and weak that he could not physically stand up on his own. He was anemic and suffering from chronic diarrhea. The father has been sentenced to 13-20 years in jail, and the mother is currently in a rehabilitation center. The children have gone through a lot and for that reason alone, we ask you to remember them often in prayer before the One who makes all things new and who alone can restore the soul.
